Through hands-on activities, learn how to use a microphone, speak clearly, tell great stories, conduct compelling interviews, edit, mix music, and present confidently behind the microphone. At the end of the class, show off your newfound skills by creating your very own show or podcast and sharing it online for your family and friends to enjoy.
Broadcast Boot Camp Radio is an interactive, student enrichment, educational program designed to introduce young people to the fundamentals of radio show and podcast production. This initiative aims to empower youth to communicate their causes, needs and experiences effectively while fostering social, emotional and practical skills. As a social impact project, Broadcast Boot Camp Radio focuses on keeping youth engaged and off the streets, boosting their self-esteem, confidence and providing them with valuable skills and opportunities for the future. The program enhances essential life skills such as verbal communication, storytelling and self-expression.
At the conclusion of the program, participants will showcase their newly acquired skills by collaborating to produce radio show podcast, which will be available for download and sharing with friends and family on RADIOFREEDETROIT.ORG.
Participants of the program are encouraged to continue producing and submitting their own programs on any topic at any time.
These shows will also be featured regularly on RADIOFREEDETROIT.ORG and its affiliates.

The program can be tailored to meet the specific time frame, age group and needs of each organization.
A nominal fee, which varies based on student enrollment, session length, and number of sessions, is required from the organization or secured funds.
All necessary equipment for the program is provided, though organizations should supply internet access, electricity, tables, chairs, and support staff or volunteers.
Broadcast Boot Camp can accommodate organizations with multiple sites and locations.
